It was a beautiful day at Beaufort Town Center with over
40 street painters ranging in age from 6 to 45+. Artists came from SC, GA, FL,
NC, and WV.
True to the European Street Festival theme, there were street
performers, puppeters, artists selling work, and musicians. Families and friends wandered
the streets for this art for arts sake event!
Congratulations to all of the Winners!
We couldn't have done it without our Sponsors and volunteers ~

Street Painting
Street Painting originated in Europe in the 16th Century. Street Painters were
called "madonnari" because their subject was typically the Madonna. As this art
form continued, the subject matter expanded to other religious icons,
reproductions of old masters, and now hundreds of years later - the subjects
are unlimited and range from simple to very complex.
Nationally-known master chalk artist Lee Jones from Orlando, Florida will be
featured at the Festival.
Street Performers
Jef the Mime ~ Jef is a popular interactive mime theatre artist who specializes in roving performances
at street fairs and festivals all over the East coast. Rather than perform on stage,
he prefers to be in and around the crowd, using masks, mime, and wacky variety arts
to involve and entertain the audience. Watch out for him! (He’s the guy who looks
like a nut). Jef is from Lumberton, NC.
Glenn Singer is ~ el gleno grande ~
Glenn Singer specializes in visual comedy using hilarious optical illusions, a
dry delivery, and a warm conversational style. His spoof of a circus equestrian act
will have you laughing again every time they think about it. From his website ~
"Having performed for over 15 years on every continent except Antarctica
("it's just a matter of time") Glenn has secured a place for himself at the very
bottom of the big time with engagements at such places as Caesar's Palace in
Las Vegas, Universal Studios in Hollywood, and Ed's Big Top in Hurricane." Glenn
is from Lewisburg, WV.
Blues Music
Nationally known blues musician, memoralized in Jimmy Buffett's "I will play
for Gumbo," The Sauce Boss is the festival headliner.....
The inventor of gastronomical boogie woogie.
Like a cross between Justin Wilson
and Robert Johnson,
He sings the blues
He cooks the gumbo
He plays the guitar
He writes the tunes
He feeds the masses
He makes his very own hot sauce
That’s why they call him …
THE SAUCE BOSS
